Wine Consult
at your service
This exciting range of eight wines emphasizes the enormous variety in wines made worldwide. This is a result of differences in climate, soil, production techniques and grape varieties. Your taste buds visit four continents in no time, without jet lag!
New World Wines
When you said ‘wine’ years ago, you thought France. Later wines from other European countries found their way onto the shelves. It is only in the last the fifteen years that all continents are represented. Justifiably so, and these eight wines from the Americas, Africa, Australia and New Zealand make you forget all about Europe for a while..
Old World Wines
The Romans spread the vine across Europe just before our calender, notably in France and Germany. The use of more grape varieties to produce one wine is one of the main characteristics of European wine. This often makes them complex and exciting. We start our trip in Germany, traveling through France, Italy and Portugal. Spain marks the end of our journey. Mouth watering wines from classical regions such as Rioja, Chianti, Douro and Bordeaux are waiting for you...
New World versus Old World
Where are the best wines produced? Europe has the longest standing wine making tradition, but is often compromised by bad weather conditions. This sometimes results in big differences in terms of quality from vintage to vintage. In the vineyards situated in South Africa, Australia and the Americas the sun always shines and bad vintages are a rarity. But has the explosive growth of wine production perhaps had a negative impact on the quality? Taste and compare the best of bothworlds...
France
If you have to limit yourself to one country of origin in terms of wine drinking, France immediately comes to mind. Nowhere else in the world you will find such a sheer variety of fine wines. We made a selection of top quality from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace, Loire and Langue d’Oc Rousillon. Complex, refined and delicious wines! Vive la France.
(Due to the enormous variety of wines within one region in France we also recommend a tasting with wines from, for example, only Bordeaux, Burgundy, Alsace or Loire.)
Italy
Italian wines are often associated with cheap Chianti in straw covered bottles and corrupted Lambrusco in one liter bottles. This is absolutely not justified! We selected eight wines from Alto Adige and Piedmont in the North, Tuscany and Umbria in the middle and Puglia in the deep South. The wines reflect the different climate zones in Italy, as shown in the white, refreshing Soave from Veneto in the North to the sun drenched, red Salento from Puglia. You will be surprised with the enormous quality Italy has to offer!
Spain
In the past Spanish wine was only available here in the form of Sherry. Sherry that was tailored to the Dutch preference for semi sweet wines in one liter bottles... But ever since the breakthrough of Rioja onto our market in the mid-seventies, and within its wake the other Iberian wine regions, Spanish high quality wines are omni present. On our tasting table you will find traditional wines with a subtle vanilla character alongside modern wines with explosive fruit aromas.
Made to measure
If you have a preference for a series of white wines from New Zealand followed by red wines from the Loire region (since these are your passion) we will definitely be able to meet your needs. If you love to combine fish dishes with red wine since you would like to break an old culinary taboo we can assure you excellent matches are possible for that matter.
Although we do present a broad spectrum of suggestions we can always meet your special requirements.
